I have competition!

I found out that someone else has made a Tetris blanket before!

Craftster member Zeropixie has a crocheted afghan, posted only a few weeks ago.

Hers looks awesome, mine is going to be very different but I hope it turns out just as lovely!

The Tetris Afghan, Part 1

As far as I know, I'm the first person to knit Tetris. I got the idea one day when looking through a knitting book and one of the patterns reminded me of Tetris blocks. I'm making up my own pattern instead of using that one (it was a one-color piece of fabric with some raised stitches, not like mine at all).

Each small square is knitted using a stitch I call the "knotty stitch"; I've never heard a real name for it. I posted a tutorial on Craftster.org if you're interested, go here to see it.

I then crocheted (my first crochet experience, woot!) a single-crochet border around each square, and joined the squares into Tetris blocks with slip stitches.

Here's two of the finished blocks:

Here's the first 3 slip-stitched together:

(my feet shown for scale, hehe)

It's not blocked at all, hence the general wigglyness.

More pictures to come as I work!
